The Piano Brothers

Jay Golwyn Page, age 86, passed away in his home on July 13, 2017 in St. George, Utah.   He was born June 21, 1931 in Preston, Idaho, a son of John Cyrus Page and Nellie Marie Edmiston-Head.  He lived in Preston until 1942 and worked as a farm worker.  After moving to Ogden, he worked for Paramount Dairy, from the age of thirteen, for nineteen years.  He then worked for the U.S. Postal Service for twenty years until the age of thirty four, when he had his first major heart attack.  He then finished his B.S. degree at Weber State College and opened his own upholstery business which he operated for twenty years.  He also worked for Jamba Juice in Tucson, AZ as manager, and Harmon's Grocery in St. George, Utah.

Jay married Norene Sylvia Carter June 23, 1950 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  They met at Ogden High School and have sung duets and been in in several choirs throughout the west for many years.  Jay and Norene also sang with a special double-mixed quartet called "The Ogden Choral-airesl."  Jay has performed with four male quartets as well as singing with "The Ogden Symphonic Choir" and "The Ogden Chorale."  Jay and Norene are the parents of three daughters, Kathleen Tiffeni, Shelley Norene, and Valerie Jayne, and one son, Lindsay Carter Page.   They were heard singing throughout the Ogden area as the "Page Family Singers."  Jay wrote several of their songs.  He has thirteen grandchildren and twenty four great grandchildren.  Jay took his family on many vacations including hundreds of trips to Disney Land and Disneyworld.  He also took the youth of his ward to Disneyland.

As an active member of the LDS church, Jay has served in all organizations, twice as an Elder's Quorum President, high Council, stake clerk, stake Sunday School, and he has been in four bishoprics.  He was bishop of the Ogden 28th Ward, where he was known as 'The Bishop of Love.'   He also served and volunteered in the St. George Temple for twelve years.  Jay served two missions with his wife.

Jay was known for his quiet, reserved, nature and his gentleness.  He was always very kind and generous to those less fortunate.   He was indeed a spiritual giant. He is survived by three children:  Kathleen (Mark) Flygare, Shelley Child, and Lindsay (Denise) Page.  Valerie Smalley (deceased).
