Richard William Senger ScottOctober 16, 1935 ~ August 2, 2017 (age 81)
Richard Scott, 81, passed away on August 2, 2017 in Washington, Utah with his "Tweety" by his side. He was born on October 16, 1935 in Baltimore, Maryland to Henry William Senger Scott and Dorothy Louise Taylor. He married his "Tweety," Ellen Nichols, on July 1, 1995 and were later sealed in the St. George Temple for time and all eternity.
Richard had a difficult childhood bouncing around in the foster care system. He was separated from his four siblings, including his twin sister, Alice. In his late teens, he met Rulon and Emily Barnes, whom he considered to be his parents.
In 1952, he joined the U.S. Navy for three years. He married Deola Bliss with whom he had four children. After 36 years, they divorced. He worked and retired from Kennecott Copper Mine. He loved running and ran several marathons. He was a collector of sports cards and coins. He was also a Utah Jazz fan and looked forward to watching the games on TV. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings, including three stake missions.
The last seven years Richard suffered from dementia. His patient wife, Ellen, was devoted to honoring his wish of being cared for at home until the end. His family is so appreciative of her love and care to their uncle, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife: Ellen Scott; children: Shane (Judy) Scott, Monique (Robert) King, Quinn (Darla) Scott; twin sister, Alice; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Deolyn; his parents; two brothers, Robert and William; sister, Dorothy.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 12:30 pm at the Warm Springs Stake Center, 860 N. Fairway Drive Washington, Utah. A viewing will be held at 11:00 am prior to the services. Interment will be at the Washington City Cemetery.
