Lillian Williams (Carlisle) Johnson

May 2, 1935 ~ June 1, 2018 (age 83)

Lillian Carlisle Williams Johnson, passed away Friday, June 1, 2018.

She was born May 2, 1935 to Sam and Lillian Carlisle in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Lillian married Norman Williams where five children were born to that union.  They were later divorced.  She moved to St. George in 1972 and married Norman Walter Johnson October 3, 1973.  (She just got the wrong Norman the first time!)

First and foremost, Lillian loved the Lord and her Heavenly Father with all her heart and was obedient and Christ-like to their teachings. She had a strong and absolute testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was a teacher of it through her example to all. She experienced many miracles because of her faith.

Second,  She loved her husband and children and often said that her greatest accomplishment was being a homemaker and making everyone feel loved and comfortable in her home.  She loved every holiday and decorated to the hilt!  She knew how to decorate a beautiful Christmas Tree.

She was a true patriot and loved her country and Glenn Beck.

She was blessed with a beautiful voice and a great love for music and how to perform it and direct it.  She directed many ward, stake, and community choirs and programs and loved the association she had with each member of the choirs.

Lillian and Norman had a great love for the elderly where they took care of many and their needs.  She knew how to be a true friend which included sending out 400 Christmas cards each year with personal notes, 2 days before Thanksgiving!

Lillian and Norman served a mission at the Gunnison Prison where they changed lives and kept in touch with “their boys” until her dying day.

She kept impeccable records and wrote her life experiences in 7 books and an annual book of “happenings”  for each year.

Lillian was a true example when she said, “Love is the answer for everything!”

She is survived by her husband Norman and children, Wendy (Bob) Sandberg, Karen (Larry) Dowd, Larry (Alyce) Williams, Chrissy Williams and daughter-in-law, Penny Williams.  She had 12 grandchildren, Shelly, Swen, Sunnie, Sadie, Michael, Mitch, Kelly, Jennifer, Mori, Travis, Kolby and Stevie.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Janet and Virginia and a son Kenny Williams.

A memorial will be held Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the St. George 5th Ward Chapel on Flood Street, 400 East.

There will be no viewing per Lillian’s request, but family will greet all as they come into the chapel beginning one hour before services.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to all who so generously gave of their time to visit time and time again in the last year of mom’s life making it happy and meaningful.  She had a “live” viewing with hundreds of you!

Also, thanks to Zion’s Way Hospice, DeAnn and Rosie for your kind care.
