Michele (Wolfe) Mathisen

September 4, 1955 ~ December 11, 2019 (age 64)

Obituary

Michele Wolfe Mathisen was born on September 4, 1955 and passed on December 11, 2019 , she was born in Berwyn Heights, Maryland to Lois and Lester Wolfe.

Michele lived in Maryland with her family till she was 13, her Mom and Dad broke up and Michele was sent to live in Heber, Utah with her mother's sister. Her Mom felt she had a better chance in Heber than greater Washington D.C. and she was correct. Michele left her Aunt's home in Heber and moved in with her dear friend Georgia McGuire and her family, Darwin and Ruth McGuire, Georgia's parents, so she could stay in Heber.  After she graduated from Heber H.S. Darwin got her a full scholarship she took advantage and graduated from Rick's College in Idaho and went on to get her B.S. to prepare herself for a career in Social work. After college Michele moved first to California then off to Alaska. She lived with her Aunt Sharon and her family in Alaska. Her next move brought her to Bangor, Maine where her dad had a boarding house that Michele managed for him.

She met Chris Mathisen in Bangor, at the L.D.S. Chapel. we dated for six months and married me and my three sons for a previous marriage, Arthur age 10. Randy age 6, Billy age 4. Before we tied the knot I asked her she knew what she was getting into, she said those kids need me, she was right. Shell and I went on to have three more boys, Sam, Spence, and Chris Jr. Michele is an amazing Mom, she took her boys with her on trips, taught them to camp and fish, and to appreciate the land.

Michele is an outstanding wife and mother, all the boys called her Mom and she treated them all the same, I am so grateful to her. Tragedy struck our home as we lost Sam at age two and a half to drowning, she was strong and blamed no one for the accident which was a Christlike act. We sold our home in Glenburn, Maine and left out for Alaska, we settled in Big Lake, a small town about 70 miles inland of Anchorage. Michele started her antique business, she began by dumpster diving, which she never stopped. I never helped her financially with her antique business Sentimental Journey, she built that herself and did quite well. After nine years in Alaska, Michele went to visit a dear friend from Rick's College Jan Hunter who lives in Toquerville, Utah, Michele decided we would move to Southern Utah so we did, I always trusted her judgement. We bought a pioneer home that was built in 1910 in Hurricane, Utah. Where we are today.

The finest complement I have for her is that she is the most Christlike person I have known, I have watched her carefully and have been impressed. She has the Gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by the L.D.S. faith in her heart and mind and she lives it. I am so grateful for her, as I have learned so much from her she reshaped me for the better.

She is survived by her husband, Christian Mathisen; her sons Arthur, Randy, Billy, Sam (deceased), Spencer, and Chris Jr. Her last coherent words were "I want My Sam"  We will love her forever.
