Ann Marie Sweetland Zeddies, 87, passed away peacefully February 28, 2023 in St. George, Utah. She was born on September 23, 1935 in Caroline, New York to Morris Sterry Sweetland and Lua Higgins Sweetland. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and loyal friend.
Ann Marie lived a very eventful life. After high school she graduated from business school in Syracuse, New York. She enjoyed being a secretary in New York and California. She enjoyed being a wife, mom, fulfilling her church callings, genealogy, temple work, singing in church, and group choirs, sailing, traveling, reading, group performances while line dancing and clogging, sending friends letters and cards, and more importantly, spending time with people and making them feel special.
Ann Marie married Gary Zeddies on May 14, 1960 in California. In 1965, they joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and were married in the Los Angeles temple. They lived in California for 35 years, moved to Washington State and then to Utah.
Ann Marie is survived by her daughters Christa Zeddies and Maria Pierce, five grandchildren, Caroline Antalek (Shawn), Kaitlin Pierce, Kacie Pierce, Chase Pierce and Carlie Pierce, two great grandchildren, Chloe Antalek and Oliver Moore, and two sisters, Geraldine Walters and Mary Sweetland, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Gayle Lynn, her parents, her husband, Gerhard Zeddies, her sisters, Grace Vavra and Kathleen Christopher, and her brother Clinton Sweetland.
Her children wish to say, “Thank you Mom for being such a wonderful example to us. For being so kind, loving, patient, a great listener, service oriented, persistent, and the most Christ-like person we have ever known.”
The family would like to give special appreciation and thanks to many people in her ward and friends who have always been there for her in all of the places she has lived. Special thanks are given to Jodie Dallof and Robbyn Harper who have always been there for us and are family to us.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the River Ridge Ward Foremaster building located at 912 S. 1740 E. St. George, Utah. A viewing will be held at 9:30-10:30 A.M. prior to the service. Condolences may be shared at mcmillanmortuary.com.
