Bret Anthony Bott passed away in his home in St. George, Utah, on August 12, 2026 at 11:45pm, surrounded by his kids.

Bret was many things to many people: a son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, massage therapist, handyman, and entrepreneur.

Bret was a dreamer, always thinking about the future. He had a ton of ideas—business ideas, projects, plans, adventures, and all kinds of things he was sure were going to be the next big thing. He loved starting something new and jumping in with both feet. He was always looking ahead, always imagining what could be possible for the future, and never afraid to dream big. And it was always because he wanted what he thought was best for his family.

By trade, Bret was a massage therapist and a handyman. He was also an entrepreneur who enjoyed thinking outside the box and coming up with ways to make an idea become reality. His mind was rarely still and his family could always count on him to come up with something unexpected and sometimes slightly crazy.

Even though Bret took pride in his ideas, his greatest joy was his family.

He was the father of six children: Nic (Jaclyn), Kira (Taylor), Sydney (Jaylen), Nate, Noah, and Nyken. He was Grampa and Pops to his five grandchildren: Eamon, Gemma, Jacob, Remi, and Jax.

His kids knew him as the dad who could make them laugh, frustrate them, teach them, worry about them, and occasionally make them wonder what on earth he was thinking. They also knew that beneath all of his quirks was a man who loved them and who was proud of the people they had become.

Bret had a strong personality that was uniquely his own. At times he could be stubborn and hard-headed, funny and frustrating, as well as passionate and unpredictable. He was a happy soul and he loved to have fun, especially with his family. He was somewhat of a daredevil in his younger years - jumping over cars in his rollerblades, or driving over 100mph in his Beretta. He lived and loved life to its fullest.

That was Bret.

Bret is survived by his mother, Sharon Wilcox; his father, Russell Bott; his siblings, Claryen, Tim (Staci), Tina (Matt), and Melissa; his six children and five grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving stepmother, Sandi, and his beautiful sister, Nikki (Jason).

Bret and April shared 31 years of marriage and raised their six children together. Although their marriage ended, their love for each other remained. They developed a friendship rooted in unconditional love, becoming the best of friends who were there for each other until the very end.

The past five years brought significant health challenges for Bret. Those years were difficult at times, but they were also filled with family, memories, conversations, laughter, and the everyday moments that make up a life.

Bret will be remembered for his big ideas, his entrepreneurial spirit, his stubbornness, his humor, his dreams, the fun times, and his deep belly laugh. Most of all, he will be remembered as Dad, Grampa, Pops, son, brother, and friend. He leaves behind a family who knows that Bret was not perfect—and he wouldn’t want anyone to pretend that he was. He was simply Bret: complicated, funny, frustrating, loving, stubborn, imaginative, and always dreaming about how he could improve everyone’s future.

His life touched many people, but his greatest legacy is the family he leaves behind. He was so very proud of them all.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and remembered in all the stories his family and friends tell about him.

And knowing Bret, he has either already come up with a new idea to make the afterlife easier to navigate, or he is hovering above Sunset Beach yelling CHI-HOOOO!

The family wants to thank Zion’s Way Hospice Care for the attention and commitment they put towards Bret in his last days.

In lieu of flowers or other remembrances, those who wish to honor Bret’s memory may make a contribution toward his medical and end-of-life expenses.
