Carol Dawn Sharp

April 22, 1937 — May 2, 2024

Santa Clara, Utah

Carol Dawn Sharp passed away  peacefully on May 2, 2024 in St George, Utah, surrounded by family. She was 87.

She was born on April 22, 1937 in Riverside, California to Hamer and Alice Thornton.  She grew up in Colton, California with brothers Wayne and Steve, and sisters Janet and Connie. She graduated from Colton High School in 1955, where she was a majorette.

She married Duane Sharp on May 6, 1955 in Colton, California. Duane was Carol's bus driver in High school. They had 3 children: Kirk, Kevin, and Kristy.

She was a gifted artist and seamstress. She began sewing her own clothing in High School and continued on sewing her entire life. She especially loved making her kids and grandchildren's halloween costumes that won most every costume contest! One of her passions was family history, and she talked about it to everyone who would listen-even at the grocery store or doctor's office. She was a proud member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers for 50 years.

She is survived by her brother Wayne Thornton of Huntington Beach, California, sisters Janet Leidig of Riverside, California, and Connie MacFarlane of Colorado Springs, Colorado, son Kevin Sharp of Santa Clara, Utah and daughter Kristy Christopherson of Beaumont California, as well as grandchildren Jeremy, Jessica, Aidan and Gillian, and great grandchildren Marina, Remington, Wesson, Winnie, and Savanna, all in California.

She is preceded in death by her husband Duane and Son, Kirk.
