Carole Maurine Williams, age 90, passed away April 10, 2026 at Spring Gardens Senior Living in St. George, Utah.
She was born at home on October 10, 1935 in Taylor, Idaho to Orland Jay Arave and Grace Polson Arave. She was raised in Taylor until age 8. She and her family then moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho where she graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1953.
Working between semesters in Utah and Long Beach, California she earned money to pay for her education. She attended Ricks College in Idaho, Utah State University, and graduated from Brigham Young University, Utah in 1961.
While attending BYU she met Don Emar Williams. They married November 18, 1960 in the Idaho Falls Temple in Idaho. After graduation she and her husband went to St. Louis for his further studies in Dentistry. During that time she worked at an insurance company and then taught high school until she became a full time mom to their son Donn. They then moved to Brawley, California where her husband set up a dental practice and her son, Shawn was born. Her husband sold his dental practice in 1970 and they went on a humane mission to Guatemala. Upon returning, they lived in Palm Springs, California and then settled in Southern Utah in 1978 where they have lived ever since. She worked at Dixie College for 27 years as an acquisition technician in the library until her retirement in 2012.
Carole had many and varied interests throughout her life. She was a faithful and dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in various church callings, including Relief Society President, Primary President, teacher in all the church organizations, and was organist for over 35 years in her ward. She loved music, singing, dancing, reading, and traveling. As a young girl she sang in a trio with her sisters for many occasions. She continued singing throughout her life in many different choirs, including being a member of the Southern Utah Heritage Choir for over 30 years; performing and touring with them, visiting many countries. She also traveled with family to many places in the United States and Canada.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, in April of 2020. She is survived by her sons Donn Sterling Williams (Launa), Washington, Utah, Shawn Ray Williams (Julie), Toquerville, Utah, grandsons, Caelen, Conner, and Casey; and sisters, Marilyn Potter of Chester, Idaho and Irma Deanna Shields of DeRitter, Louisiana.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 6:00-8:00pm in the Bloomington 2nd Ward at 200 W. Brigham Rd. St. George, UT 84790. Graveside services will be held Friday, April 17, 2026 at the Taylor Cemetery in Taylor, Idaho at 11:00 a.m.
