Christine Rae Huntley

March 7, 1939 — June 24, 2023

St George, Utah

Christine Rae Huntley, 84, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023, in St. George, Utah.  She was born March 7, 1939, in San Diego, California to Donald and Elsie (Lentz) McKinney.  She was married to her beloved Jack Huntley, who preceded her in death this past March. Christine and Jack were married in the Provo, Utah Temple on September 21, 1996.

Christine was raised in San Diego and Lakewood, CA. She graduated from David Starr Jordan High School, Long Beach, CA, Class of 1957, which was around the corner from where her parents owned a TV repair business (King TV), and where she worked after school. In January, 1958, Christine married, later divorced, Gerald Burner with whom she had her four children.  Christine was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  She worked as a legal secretary, a court reporter transcriber, and a court transcriber to the Superior Court of Orange County, CA.  She then moved to Provo, Utah, and began working at the Brigham Young University Alumni Association, where she eventually supported Alumni tours around the United States and the world. It was at BYU that she developed her love for genealogy, and took classes to enhance her skills.  Christine first served in the Family History Center at BYU during the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. She also helped many people privately with researching their family ancestry, then served an LDS genealogical mission from 2017 to 2020, and also served at the Family History desk in the St. George Temple until closing for renovations.  Christine loved to study her scriptures, and was an avid reader with mysteries being her favorite. Christine loved to travel, and as she traveled with the Alumni Association she met her future husband, Jack. He proposed to her in Hawaii on the way back from a tour to China. She loved her family very much, and they were the joy of her life.

She is survived by three of her four children: Christian David Burner (Laurie Wellner) of Gardnerville, Nevada; Thomas William Burner (Liz Burner) of Hesperia, California; and Jeri Lynne Marshall (Mike Marshall) of Provo, Utah.  She had three step-children: Leslie Duwel (Joe Duwel) of St. George, Utah; Doug Huntley of Twin Falls, Idaho; and Lori Conder (Red Conder) of Gilbert, Arizona.  Christine is proceeded in death by her oldest child, Lori Jayne Rogers (Kirk Rogers).  Christine has 11 grandchildren: Gabriel Kingston (deceased); Alexya Isanski; Joshua Kingston; Marssie Westerberg; David Burner; Andrew Burner; Brittanie Burner; William Perry; Shelby Burner; Robert Burner; and Natalie Perry. She also has 14 great-grandchildren: McKayli Abbe; Brooklyn Strickland; Kirk Abbe; Penelope Burner; Gabriel Kingston; Leonardo Kingston; Seth Burner; Gryffin Westerberg; Ruth Burner; Allister Burner; Jack Perry; Ruby Burner; Khaleesi Burner; and Wyatt Perry.
