Listen to Obituary

Clinton “Clint” Milne was born on 15 September, 1930 to Alexander Clinton Milne and Lois Marzette Baker Johnson Milne in Cedar City, Utah. Clint was the middle of three sons with an older half-brother, Ervin Vance Johnson and a younger brother, Donald Young Milne.

All three brothers lived long storied lives (the great depression, wars, obtaining degreed educations, finding sweethearts, having families, jobs with great responsibilities) with Clint living the longest, to age 95.

Clint graduated from Cedar City High School in 1948 and obtained his first engineering degree in 1950 from Branch Agricultural College (now Southern Utah University). Clint obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Utah in 1953. While attending the “U of U” and working part-time jobs to fund his education, Clint met and fell absolutely head-over-heels in love with Lorraine Corry, who was also from Cedar City, although they didn’t know each other at that time as Clint was several years older than Lorraine. They married on 27 December, 1952 in Cedar City, Utah and were later ‘Sealed’ in the Los Angeles California Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Lorraine was attending a Nursing School when they met and married. Unfortunately, the school Lorraine was attending was Catholic run (although Lorraine was L.D.S.) and she was unable to continue her education as ‘married students’ weren’t allowed to participate in their program per school policy. Lorraine had to quit her educational pursuits and focused her efforts on helping to support Clint until he graduated.

At the time Clint graduated from the “U”, the better jobs fitting his educational background were located in California. Clint and Lorraine took what few possessions they had and relocated to Southern California where Clint worked for the Los Angeles County Flood Control District for 19 years. During this time, nature took its course and they started a family and had four children. Greg (Barbi), Jeff, Ann (Ron) and Paul (Susy). In time, along came sixteen grand-children and forty-nine great-grandchildren.

Also, while moving multiple times in Southern California, raising a family, and holding positions of responsibility, Clint obtained his Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Southern California (USC).

After 19 years of dedicated service with L.A. County Flood Control District, Clint accepted a position with greater responsibilities with the San Luis Obispo County Engineering Department. After 23 years of service for the County of San Luis Obispo, Clint retired as the County Engineer of San Luis Obispo County, California. Clint was lauded by the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors upon retirement, receiving many declarations as well as having his name affixed to various structures throughout San Luis Obispo County for which he was instrumental in facilitating.

Upon retiring, Clint and Lorraine moved several times, ultimately ending up close to home living in Southern Utah (Washington City). It should be noted, that all his life, Clint was able to pursue his passions of hunting, fishing and golf (his last hole-in-one was at age 92). His greatest passion however was traveling anywhere with Lorraine and traveling the world via land, sea or air. Many trips were taken throughout North America and several trips specifically to South America, Hawaii, Alaska, British Columbia, Alberta, England and the Caribbean.

Clint was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As a youth, he was baptized in the now famous Rock Church located one block from his boyhood home in Cedar City, Utah. Clint was preceded in death by his sweetheart Lorraine after 68 years of marriage, and his son Jeff. Clint passed away peacefully with family at his side in the St. George Regional Medical Center on 20 September, 2025. Clint will be buried in the Washington City, Utah, Cemetery.
