Devor Pickering

September 27, 1950 — August 9, 2021

Newcastle, Utah

Devor Arthur Pickering, 70, passed away on August 9, 2021 peacefully in his sleep. He was born on September 27, 1950 in St. George, Utah to Wendell Winsor Pickering and Esther Jones. He married Cori Ann Pearce in the St. George, Utah temple on November 1, 1985. They remained married for 21 years until they went their separate ways.

Devor graduated from Enterprise High School in 1968 then went on to serve an LDS mission in Eugene, Oregon. He continued on to become a Journeyman Electrician. Devor worked as a Control Operator for St. George City for 21 years. His favorite hobby was taking his boat out to the lake and going water skiing. He also enjoyed going to the sand dunes and riding 4-wheelers with his children. He also enjoyed taking his family to Bryce Canyon to go camping. During the summer he also enjoyed taking his children around with him to do errands and wander around town.

He suffered Rheumatic fever and Bright’s disease as a child giving him kidney disease for the rest of his life. He was a shy child and hated to be the center of attention. He was loved and spoiled by his mom and she made sure others spoiled him as well. He wrecked on his brother Kim’s motorcycle and wound-up having surgery where his heart stopped for a brief time and he saw his grandparents that had passed away. After many years away up working in other locations, he ended up back home and worked construction and heavy equipment operator with his father building many different places.

Devor is survived by his children, Nicholas Ryan Pickering and his wife Trina, and Melissa Ann Pickering; his grandson Braxtyn Ryan Pickering; his sister Fawn Hulet, his brothers Kim Pickering, Elmo Pickering and Nolan Pickering; and the rest of his family and friends.
