Dollene Egan

d. April 20, 2012

Dollene Joan Egan left us on the evening of April 20, 2012 at her home in Washington Utah to be with her loved ones who went before her.

Harry Egan her husband of 62 years was by her side with their two daughters Pat Gonzalez and Sandi Rose.Dollene Joan Alford was born on August 24,1930 to Cathelma Julia Alford(Reed) and Albert Darwin Alford in Mankato Kansas. She had two sisters Roberta Alene and Catherine Althea.
Harry and Dolly (as most knew her by) were married on August 18, 1950, in Manhatten Kansas.
Dolly was educated in Nebraska, she graduated from Superior High School in 1947. She also attended Kansas Wesleyan University. While she was attending the University she was playing on a softball team sponsored by Salina Roofing Co. Two of the owner's sons decided to introduce their younger brother, Jim Egan (AKA Harry) to Dolly. On their first date Jim proposed and Dolly & she said, ” Yes!” They were married less than a year later and would have celebrated their 62nd anniversary this August.

Dolly was a real estate agent for several years and received awards for her abilities. She also was employed by Pacific Telephone from which she retired after many years to be with Harry. She enjoyed golfing, antiques, pretty sunsets and flowers. Dolly and Harry had a unique ability to buy homes that needed TLC, fix them up beautifully and then sell them for a nice profit.

They moved from Kansas early in their marriage and went to Colorado Springs, Colorado. Then on to California, New York, Arizona, and finally Utah. In Dolly's later years her main hobby and love was Harry. They spent all their time together going for drives, dates, Costco (of course), anywhere as long as they were together.

She is survived by her husband (first and only love) Harry Egan of Washington Utah. Daughters Patricia Jollene Gonzalez (David B.) of Mt. Pleasant Utah and Sandra Diane Rose (Jack) of Palmdale California. Her sister Catherine Althea Jorn of Hastings Nebraska 13 grandchildren, 23+ great-grandchildren, and numerous family and friends.

Dolly was preceded in death by her parents, sister Roberta, and son James Alan Egan.

On Saturday the 28th day of April 2012 we will be holding a private memorial for Dolly at their home for family members only.

We appreciate special help from Applegate Hospice Care, mainly Rayan Ekins RN. She was precious and we all came to love her. We also send a big “Thank you!” to their sweet and helpful friends and neighbors, Ed and Sharon Nagy, for being there for them!

Dolly was a special lady of many talents and we will all miss her dearly .
