Donna Ashton Hamblin was born April 11,1933 in Provo, UT. She was the oldest daughter of Orvil Stubbs Ashton and Leora Lamoreaux Ashton. She grew up in the shadow of Mt Timpanogas and the “Y” Mountain and attended and graduated from Lincoln High School.

She met John Ray Hamblin while he was attending BYU and living with her Grandpa and Grandma Lamoreaux. They became fast sweethearts! Donna waited for Ray while he served a Mission for the LDS Church to the Northwestern States. After he returned, they were married and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on Aug 15, 1953. Together they raised three children, Kevin Ray, Kristi and Glenn John and also were foster parents to two others, Eloise, and Timothy for a short time.

Donna was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ and served in many church positions as RS Pres. Primary Pres. Stake Dance Instructor, MIA, Instructor, Golden Gleaners, Temple Worker, and full time Missionary. During their years with the CES, Ray and her took many trips, traveling to Jerusalem, Church History Sites, and to South and Central America. They enjoyed church history and spent 2 of their missions as Church History Site tour guides.

While Ray was busy teaching Seminary and Institute, Donna was a wonderful homemaker and took great care of her family. She spent countless hours canning, and making beautiful quilts. She loved to sew and to cook and would even take many prizes at the local County Fair with her creations! Ray and Donna together served in the West Indies Mission, the West Virginia Mission, St George Utah Mission, and Palmyra New York Mission. She loved being a missionary and took great pride in the work that she did. They met many new friends and cherished co-workers while serving missions. They both also served as Temple Workers for many years in the Bountiful Temple and established many treasured friendships there as well.

Donna loved family! She was always attending family functions, weddings, baptisms, funerals, sporting events, and special occasions with her family and also extended family! All the nieces and nephews, great aunts and uncles, cousins and grandchildren remember Aunt Donna and Grandma for the love and care she always gave!

She is loved and survived by her three children, Kevin Ray Hamblin (Edith Ann) of Arcata, CA, Kristi Simonson (Brent) of Washington, UT, and Glenn John Hamblin of Pleasant Grove, UT, and her 11 grandchildren, Jaron, Trisha, Clinton, Tanessa, Kristin, Jacob Von, Brooke, Justin, Kyle, Kelley and Jacob. She is also survived by 23 great grandchildren!

She is loved by many and we cherish our time with her as our mother and grandmother, and know that she will be missed by so many! We are thrilled to know that she has reunited with the love of her life, John Ray, and they are celebrating with family in Heaven. Until we meet again….
