St. George, Utah

Parley Douglas Hassell, 71, of St. George, Utah, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at Ridgeview Gardens Assisted Living. Parley was born on September 25, 1953, in Ogden, Utah, to Parley George and Vivian Lucile Hassell, both whom proceeded him in death.

Parley’s life was a testament to kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith. From a young age, he displayed a deep love for the Lord and his religion. He served a mission in the Texas Panhandle, where he touched the lives of many with his thoughtful and caring nature. A lifelong lover of the gospel, Parley often spoke of his mother and the love he had for her, recalling how he always took special care of her.

Having lived in California’s San Fernando Valley during his childhood, Parley later, moved to Santa Clara, Utah, where he spent the majority of his life. His work as a funeral director and radio host allowed him to connect with people and offer support and comfort to those in need. His humility, generosity, and passion for helping others was evident in everything he did.

Parley was a man of simple joys. He had a deep affection for animals of all kinds and reveled in the beauty of life itself. He was an avid fan of old Westerns, often spending hours, watching them with a contented smile. His gentle spirit and giving nature made him a beloved figure to all who knew him.

In addition to his love of life, Parley was known for his strong work ethic and his steadfast commitment to others. He was humble, kind, and always ready to offer a helping hand or an encouraging word. Whether through his service in the community or his care for those closest to him, Parley’s legacy is one of selflessness and love.

Parley was an only child and he never married. He has no surviving family, but he has a large family of those whom he touched in his life.
