Elise Sanford Evans of Washington, Utah, peacefully passed away August 2, 2026 at the age of 90.
She was born August 6, 1935 to Charles Mack Sanford and Helen Boyer Fox Sanford in Springville, Utah, and would have been 91 on August 6th.
She was married to LaMar Floyd Evans on February 11,1955 in the Salt Lake City Utah Temple.They were both members and very active in the LDS Church all of their lives and served two LDS missions after they retired. They were married 69 beautiful years before LaMar passed away in May of 2024.
Elise had moved from Springville to San Bernardino, California with her family and then left to attend BYU in Provo, Utah where she met LaMar who was working for BYU Food Services and he hired her to work in one of the cafeteria's. They later married and started a family in Provo.
Elise attended college and became a high school teacher. She taught home economics, foods and sewing classes in both Springville and Payson, Utah for many years.
They retired in 1991 and accepted an LDS mission call to Melbourne, Australia.
After returning home they moved to St. George, Utah where they remained, and later served a second LDS mission to Little Rock Arkansas in 2009.
Elise was a homemaker, a mother, and a teacher. They loved traveling and have been all over the world. They also enjoyed years of camping with their four children when they were young.
She loved to host dinner parties and was always inviting someone for dinner.
She is survived by her 4 children: Melanie (John) Martin of ID, Jeffrey Evans of UT, Shelley (Hollis) Palmer of UT, Bradley (Kim) Evans of UT; 24 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Clyde (Patty) Sanford, John (Hollie) Sanford, Sisters, Susan Sanford Farrelly, and Judy Sanford Postnikoff. Preceded in death by her brother Allan Sanford.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 7, 2026 at 11:00am at the Green Springs Stake Center. 860 N Fairway Dr, Washington City UT 84780. Prior to the funeral services a viewing will be held from 10:00-10:45am. Interment will be at Washington City Cemetery following funeral services.
