Elizabeth M. Colson Wines passed away peacefully surrounded by family August 26,2025. Born in South Carolina in 1932, she spent over fifty years as resident of Utah, joining the Church of Latter-Day Saints in 2020. She lived in Elko, Nevada over twenty years with family there. Elizabeth was a 17-year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Salt Lake Valley Chapter.
An avid singer and yodeler, she always had a song to share, no matter where she was, singing loudly and often. A true artist with needle and thread, nearly every member of her family having a handmade Christmas stocking or other beautiful stitchery heirloom that she lovingly created. Puzzles of all sorts never defeated her whether it be crosswords or jigsaws or creating a stitchery project out of scrap pieces. Elizabeth was often found at the family game table, winning often, she loved the competition. All those who knew her, will remember her beauty and love of family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore C. Colson and Eda Mae Crosby. Her husbands, Bill Alverson and Jim Wines. Her brothers, Harry, Joseph and Stephen. Her sister Suzanne. Her oldest granddaughter, Adria. Surviving her are her children, DarJan(Wes), Michelle, Malia (Ken) and Ish (Colette). Her sisters, Jean and Carolyn. Elizabeth had twelve grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by McMillan Mortuary in St. George, Utah. Private arrangements are being managed by her family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
