Ervin "Bud" Clegg, Jr.

February 6, 1944 — December 22, 2017

Ervin Ernest (Bud) Clegg, Jr., age 73, returned to his Heavenly Father on Friday, December 22, 2017 in Salt Lake City, Utah after complications following a stroke on November 22nd.

Bud is survived by his wife, Alice, of Hurricane Utah; his 7 children – Cheryl (Matt) Hall of Hurricane Utah, Debi (Vaughn) Hepworth of Layton Utah, Bryan (Ashley) Clegg of Cold Springs Nevada, Russell (Kim) Clegg of Magna Utah, Ron (Traci) Clegg of LaVerkin Utah, Scott (Rebekah) Clegg of Hurricane Utah and Michelle Clegg of Las Vegas Nevada. He loved each of his 11 grandchildren – Autumn, Corbin, Logan, Daxton, Mason, Sydney, Hazel, Ari, Everly, Wyatt and Scarlet. He is also survived by his brother Robert “Bob” (Ann) Clegg of Citrus Heights California. He is preceded in death by his father Ervin Ernest Clegg and his mother Kathleen Simons Clegg of Norwalk California.

Bud was born in Bakersfield, California on February 6th, 1944. From the day he came from the hospital his brother Bob called him “Buddy” and the nickname “Bud” stuck. He was a Sergeant in the US Army and served in Germany during the Vietnam war providing radio teletype. After his time in the service he graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in General Studies.

Bud was a great family man and a loving father. He married Alice in the Provo Temple and the couple were blessed with 7 children.

Bud was a social, caring man and made friends with everyone he met. His family and friends will always remember him as having a story for every occasion.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, December 29, 2017, at the Hurricane 9th ward chapel, located at 274 South 100 West, Hurricane, Utah. The viewing will be from 9:30 -10:30 am, the services at 11:00 am and the interment to follow at the Hurricane Cemetery.

All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bud’s life. The family would like to thank all those who lovingly cared for Bud, both before and during his stays at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George and Promise Hospital in Salt Lake City.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to the Hurricane Senior Center Meals on Wheels program in his name.
