Evelyn Kay Rushforth, 87, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, in St. George, Utah. She was born on November 18, 1937, in Mona, Utah, to Harry Russell Ulmer and Mern Newton Ulmer. She married the love of her life, Gordon Samuel Rushforth, on November 26, 1958, in the Salt Lake City Temple, and together they built a life of love and devotion that blessed all who knew them.
Kay and Gordon moved from Utah to Brea, California in 1968, where they raised their family and created lasting friendships that spanned decades. Kay was known for her gentle spirit, quick smile, and her remarkable ability to make everyone feel loved, seen, and valued.
A gifted pianist, Kay shared her talent and faith through a lifetime of service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She faithfully played the organ and piano for countless meetings, funerals, and gatherings, bringing peace and inspiration through her music. She also loved playing tennis, spending time with her family, and cherishing simple, beautiful moments with those she loved most.
Kay is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gordon Samuel Rushforth, and her son, Gary Gordon Rushforth. She is survived by her children Greg Todd Rushforth, Leisa Rushforth Schaefer, and Karen Rushforth Baker; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love, service, and quiet strength will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Red Cliffs 5th Ward Chapel, 1155 N. 1400 W., St. George, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the same location.
Interment will take place Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Mona City Cemetery.

Kay’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering faith were a quiet force that lifted those around her. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of what it means to love deeply and live with grace.
