Faavela Iafeta, lovingly known as “Vela,” passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026. She was born on May 3, 1972, in Vailoa, American Samoa, and raised in Long Beach, California, by her devoted parents, Naomi Ti Taimi and Poutoa Iafeta. Vela was a woman of deep faith, strength, and compassion. She was a proud mother to her 4 children—Naomi, Trevon, Tia, and Leni—who were her life’s greatest blessings.
Vela graduated from Millikan High School in Long Beach, CA. She was a natural hustler—balancing long hours at work, showing up strong on the volleyball court, and helping care for her 10 siblings. Vela was a very hard worker, she spent most of her work career waitressing and serving others, it led her to develop many connections with many people.
Later in life, Vela moved to St. George, Utah, to be close to her siblings. She especially loved being surrounded by her 9 grandchildren—they were her greatest joy. The love she displayed as a Grandmother was, all hands on deck! She’d always clean up, cook dinner and feed the grandkids. Vela’s love for the Lord guided her throughout her life. She was known for her very big loving and giving heart, always putting others before herself. Though she may have had little by worldly standards, she possessed everything that truly mattered: a heart full of love. Her giving spirit, her laughter, and her unwavering faith will live on through all who knew and loved her.
Please join us for Vela’s funeral service on Thursday, May 28, 2026 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm at New Life Christian Center Church, 1062 E Tabernacle St. George, UT 84790.
