Florence Jean Brown

On October 19, 2026, F. Jean Brown passed from this life to join her beloved husband in the forever after.

Jean was born on March 21, 1941, to Ralph A. Putnam and Florence Jessie Newman Putnam. She had five older brothers and two younger sisters. She grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, and graduated from East High School.

At the age of 15, she met Vincent H. Brown and thus began a love story for the ages! There was no Jean without Vince, and there was no Vince without Jean. They were married in the Salt Lake City temple on May 26, 1960. Jean became the loving mother of four children. She welcomed her grandchildren and their spouses and partners into her heart—12 in all—along with four great-grandchildren, with another on the way.

She filled her home with music, playing the piano and singing with an angelic voice. She always encouraged her children and grandchildren to sing along. In the early 2000s, Jean joined the Southern Utah Heritage Choir and remained a member until her passing.

Jean loved making every holiday special, decorating her home inside and out and opening it to welcome family and friends. Every gift she gave was thoughtfully chosen and came from her heart. Jean was a gift to all who knew and loved her, and she will be missed tremendously.

Jean is survived by her Sister-in Law, Donna Linford Putnam, her Sisters, Gloria Rodgers Rich and Donna Strong (John); her children, Cheri Barton (David), Cindy Flowers (Bob), Vinnie Brown, and Travis Brown (Gina); her grandchildren and their spouses and partners, Josh (JT) Seumalu (Aden), Tyler Brown, McKenna Riley (Cody), Saxton Brown (Melissa), Madison Brush (Dein), Savannah Ogden (Brennan), and Marshall Riley (Sella); and her great-grandchildren, Jones, Basil, Adeline, and Banks.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 30, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 511 S. Valley View Dr. St. George, UT 84770. Prior to services there will be a viewing from 9:30-10:45am.  Interment will be in the Tonaquint Cemetery.
