Francis Dawson

Francis Joyce Wilkin Dawson, 87, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Dixie Regional Medical Center of natural causes. She was born February 27, 1924 in St. George, UT to Robert David Wilkin of Farmington, New Mexico and Olive Joyce Gray of St. George, UT. She married Sgt. R.E. Dawson on April 15, 1944 in Dallas, TX. Later they were married in the St. George LDS Temple, they later divorced.
Francis was an active member of the LDS Church, she taught kindergarten in France. She was Military Wife of the year while living in San Francisco, CA and was a member of the Heritage Choir.
Francis is survived by her children: Alice Joyce Dunn of Washington, UT; Alexandra "Sandy" (Ross) Seegmiller of St. George, UT and Richard Edward Dawson of Washington State; ten grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 10 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her ex-husband R.E. Dawson; youngest son David Brian Dawson; a grandson Thomas Edward Oliphant; a nephew Keith Wilkin and three brothers: Howard; Paul LaMar and Gray Wilkin.
Funeral services will be at the St. George Morningside 7 th Ward Chapel, 879 S. River Road on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be one hour prior to services at the chapel. Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery.
