Gayle Cannon Brough passed away early on Thursday, March 20, 2026. Gayle was born in Garland, Box Elder County on September 19, 1937 to Ida Ravsten and Clifford Eugene Cannon.
Gayle loved living in Fielding, Utah. Her grandfather was a custodian at the elementary school and she helped him after school emptying waste baskets and cleaning the black boards. Gayle’s mother was a cook in the cafeteria and she helped her in the kitchen if things got backed up.
Gayle married David Lyle Brough in the Logan LDS Temple on November 3, 1954. They spent 71 years together and were the proud parents of five children: Sheri Ann (Garth) Terry, Joye Lyn (Kim) Rolfe, Mark David (June), Don Robert (Nancy) and Brian Cannon (Kim). They have 19 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Gayle and David lived in Garland, Logan, Centerville, Fielding and St. George. Gayle spent the last 4 months in Albuquerque, New Mexico with Sheri and Garth.
Gayle spent most of her time as a mother at home with her children. Gayle sewed many of the clothes Sheri and Joye wore. Gayle was a wonderful cook. She spent many hours canning and bottling fruit and vegetables. Gayle spent several years as a Dental Assistant to Dr. Kent Arbuckle in Centerville. She really enjoyed working with Dr. Arbuckle and meeting the patients in the office.
Gayle enjoyed serving in many of the organizations in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Gayle and David served three missions for the Church, one at the Saint George Temple Visitors Center and historic sites, one in the Washington D.C. Temple and one in the Nauvoo Temple. They also worked for two years in the Bountiful Temple and for several years in the St. George Temple. Their lives centered around their family and the Church.
Gayle was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David, on March 22, 2026. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Ida and Clifford; her brother, Murray Cannon, and her sisters, Beverly Petersen and Shirley Watson. Also, her great-grandson, Elliot Brough.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4275 West 15600 North, Fielding, Utah. Burial will be in the Fielding, Utah Cemetery directly after the services at the church.
