Gerald Lewis

February 4, 1938 — September 8, 2018

St. George, Utah

On Saturday, September 8, 2018, Gerald (Jerry) Lewis, passed away at the age of 80. He was a loving husband, father of four, grandfather of 12, and great grandfather to 5. Jerry was born on February 4, 1938 in Villa Grove, IL, to Jesse and Donna (Passon) Lewis. He received his B.A. degree from Lincoln Christian College in 1960. He served as a minister for 58 years in California, Illinois, Ohio, and Utah. On April 10, 1960, he married Jean Parrott. They raised three daughters and one son.

Jerry's passions were his family, his congregations, and sports. He loved the Utah Jazz and the St. Louis Cardinals. He enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, and watching just about any sport.

Jerry served as the chaplain for the Utah Jazz for over 30 years and rarely missed a game. He was always there at a moment's notice when he was needed whether it was a member of his congregation or a member of his family. A true servant to God and his faith!

Jerry had a brilliant mind and was a talented athlete in high school in Villa Grove, Illinois. Despite an opportunity to become a professional athlete, he chose to serve the Lord. His family will remember his wit, infectious smile, and kind and compassionate spirit. He was the king of "Dad" jokes.

He will be missed by his family, the community, and his church, but he is now reunited with his God, his family and friends who have preceded him in death including his father, Jesse; mother, Donna; grandson, Tony; and son-in-law (Jerry Andersen).

He is survived by wife Jean, his four children, Dawn, Mark (Cathy), Bethanie (Mike), Rebecca (CJ), and his sister, Joyce Sterling (Jim).
Jerry did not desire any service and in lieu of flowers, family and friends are encouraged to donate in Pastor Jerry Lewis' name to the Brain Trauma Foundation. Donations can be made at https://www.braintrauma.org/donate
