Hazel Starling

d. February 22, 2012

Hazel "Rose" Irene Starling peacefully slipped the bonds of Earth on February 22, 2012, and joyfully went into the loving arms of family and friends that have been eagerly awaiting her arrival.
Rose was born on July 22, 1917, to Raymond and Idella Wilford in Doctors Inlet, Florida. She was the second of seven eventual children. Her brothers, Bill and Ray, along with sisters, Jewel and Estelle, preceded her in death. Her sister, Leila, and brother Olen will miss her and look forward to a happy future reunion.
On November 14, 1939, Rose married her sweetheart Lorenzo D. Starling in the Mesa Arizona Temple. They made their home first in Jacksonville, Florida and later in Las Vegas, Nevada. Eventually they moved to St. George, Utah. After 69 happy years together, L.D. (as his friends called him) passed away. They are now happily reunited.
Rose was an unusually bright and talented woman. Her greatest loves and accomplishments include music, interior decorating, buying and selling (Yes, she was a true "Second Hand Rose"), reading, teaching and service to others.
She was completely devoted to her husband; son Dr. L Don Starling, of St. George, UT; and her daughter Julie Baker (Richard) of Orem, UT. Rose set a wonderful example for her seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren who love her dearly.
Rose served an honorable mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Tampa, Florida.
"God gave us memories, that we might have June roses in the December of our lives" Thank you Mom, for all the memories.
We would like to express our gratitude to the members and friends of the Bloomington 1 st Ward for their warmth and friendship to Rose (Hazel).
As a family, we would also like to express out heartfelt sincere appreciation to the management and staff of Sterling Court for their loving kindness and expert care or our mother for the last year and a half.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bloomington 1 st Ward Chapel, 200 West Brigham Road, Bloomington.
A viewing will be held form 9:30 to 10:30 prior to services at the church.
Interment will be at Tonaquint Cemetery
