Howard Charles Call, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away at his home in Washington, Utah surrounded by family on December 22, 2021.
Howard was born in Logan, Utah, on March 5, 1932. His parents were Martha England and Howard Leslie Call. Howard was a driven young lad and began work delivering telegrams and newspapers.
He graduated from Ogden High School. He fell in love with Diane Jones and married her in Salt Lake City. Howard enlisted in the Army during the Korean war and served as a dental laboratory technician. He was later accepted to Loyola University Dental School in Chicago, IL and earned his dental degree in 1961. He worked at Cook County Hospital while living in Chicago.
The family returned to Ogden where he joined his father’s dental practice. Howard practiced dentistry from 1961 to 1999. His occupational accomplishments include: Weber District Dental Society President, Volunteer at Weber/Davis Dental Clinic, Utah Dental Board member, Member of the American Association of the Dental Examiners and the Western Regional Examining Boards, Staff member for McKay Dee Hospital and St. Benedicts Hospital, as well as receiving the Utah Dental Association Distinguished Service Award in 1993. Above all of this, his greatest accomplishment was serving his patients with the utmost integrity, respect, and devotion for 38 years.
Howard was a man of many talents. He dabbled in electronics and actually built his family a television. He was a gifted wood craftsman, auto mechanic, and could fix just about anything.
He enjoyed life and taking his family on many adventures. He taught all his children how to snow ski and water ski. Boating, camping and fishing were favorite family activities. Lake Powell and Flaming Gorge were favorite destinations for the family. Howard also spent many hours improving and maintaining the family cabin in South Fork, Utah.
Howard and Diane moved to Saint George in 2002. They were involved in the Institute of Continued Learning where he excelled in photography and computers.
Howard is survived by his wife: Diane; Children: Laurie Call, Marcy Call, Brent Call (Jaqueline), Leslie Cordon (Barry), ten grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; and sister Carole Hill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters Jean Batt and Gloria Spencer Taylor.
Words that describe Howard are sweet, honorable, honest, loyal, committed, smart, resourceful, quiet, lovable, driven, genuine, adventurous, but most of all, he made us all feel safe.
He was the father of four children who adored him. We are so proud of the life that he lived and the legacy that he left!
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 11:00am at Lindquist Mortuary 2140 North Washington Blvd. North Ogden, Utah 84414. Visitation will be held Wednesday, prior to services, from 9:30am to 10:45am at the same location. Interment will be at Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden Utah.
