Janet Sue Hinrichs (Smith), age 78, passed away April 2, 2026 in St. George from complications of severe infections.
Janet was raised in the Southern Utah area. She later attended school in Tucson, Arizona and obtained her Therapy License specializing in Massage Therapy and Acupuncture. She continued developing her passion by adding knowledge of healing herbs and homeopathic remedies that she used to help heal anyone she ran into that had a need for her help and expertise. She was free spirited, adventurous, had an entrepreneurial side, loved to travel, and learn. She was always happy to share her wisdom and skills everywhere she went, leading her to make many meaningful connections during her life.
Janet very much revered the bald eagle and carried a deep respect and love for them. She felt the eagle connected her to her Native American heritage and kept her grounded to her roots. She loved her family and particularly cherished her grandchildren. She LOVED every moment she had with them. Camping, fishing, hiking and spending the day floating down the lazy river with her grandkids were some of the memories she held closest to her heart.
Janet is survived in death by her brother, Ed Spencer (Earlene) Daughter, Michelle (Mike), 8 marvelous grandchildren, Natasha(Tony), Ashley, Chantelle, Justin(Jon), Dustin, Jesse, Anthony and Michael ”Hunter”, and 6 most precious great grandchildren.
Although her last year+ was filled with a great deal of pain due to health issues and ongoing infections, she always had a soft smile and a kind word for most all people she came in contact with. Her family is full of sorrow and there is an ache in their hearts, but they are relieved that she has finally obtained complete relief from pain.
Rest easy mamma and grammies. May you now soar with the very eagles that you admired and enjoyed from afar. We love you tons and miss you even more!!!
Private family services will be held to honor Janet.
