Jeanne Thorn Wilkinson completed her earthly mission in the early morning of Monday, November 24, 2025. She is preceded in death by her sweetheart, Kenneth Leland Wilkinson; parents Irene and Hall Thorn; her sister, Faye Hyde; and daughter-in-law, Kerry Wilkinson.
Jeanne is survived by her four sons, Michael (Laura), Rock Springs, Wyoming; Kevin (Rhonda), St. George, Utah; Todd (Rayan), St. George, Utah; and David, Rock Springs, Wyoming; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; one sister, Hallene Glover; and friends, loved ones, and many people whose lives she touched.
Jeanne was born August 2, 1929 to Irene Dowd and Newton Hall Thorn in Spring Canyon, Utah. She married Kenneth Leland Wilkinson on September 27, 1950 and was sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti Temple. Following their marriage, they lived in Utah County before making their home on a ranch along the Duchesne River, north of Duchesne near Utahn. Together with their sons, they worked hard to create that beautiful place the ranch would become. Jeanne and Ken often joked that when asked what they raised on their ranch, their reply was, "Horseshit and gunsmoke!"
Together they built their family of 4 strong, kind, and loving boys: Michael, Kevin, Todd, and David. Grandma Jeanne enjoyed spending her time with her 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Each and every one was her favorite.
Jeanne loved her Savior, Jesus Christ, and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved her ward families that she served with in Duchesne, Vernal, and St. George. She faithfully served in both the Vernal and St. George temples.
Jeanne will be remembered as an accomplished and talented woman. She was a gifted seamstress, painter, and crocheter, among many other talents. Jeanne found great joy in creating—whether she was baking bread and cinnamon rolls, crocheting afghans and Barbie clothes, or carefully painting her cherished Nativity and ceramics, her attention to detail shone through. Music and dancing brought her immense happiness, and her beautiful singing voice (and exceptional whistling!) will remain a treasured memory for her grandchildren, who especially loved to hear her sing "Rocking Horse Cowboy."
Above all, Jeanne cherished her family. She had a deep appreciation for her heritage and dedicated countless hours to genealogy research, tracing the roots and stories that shaped her family’s legacy. Through her tireless efforts, she lovingly preserved this history for future generations.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Oasis Senior Living for the compassionate care provided to Jeanne during the six years she lived there, as well as to the CNS and Home Hospice workers for their devoted support, and to all who visited and showed kindness to her.
