A beloved daughter of God, a wife devoted to her sweetheart D. Frank Pate and mother to her family, returned home to our Father in Heaven on Saturday, September 27, 2025. She is reunited with her parents, Louis and Margaret Travers, and her siblings, Rebecca and Robert.
Jo Ann was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and shared her love of the Savior with her family, who meant the world to her. She loved doing family history and temple work. She is a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since her baptism at age 19.
She served her Savior, Jesus Christ, in many church callings. A talented homemaker, Jo Ann gave everything for her family. She had a gift for seeing the potential and beauty in all things and spent her life remodeling homes.
She met her sweetheart, Duncan Franklin Pate, in 1989, and they were sealed in the Washington D.C. Temple for time and all eternity.
She is survived by her five children: Malissa Cather Hooper (Sidney), Charles Edward Cather III (Jessica), Martha Harned Cather Sikes (Johnnie), Julia Jackson Cather Knaphus (Steven), and Susanna McFarland Cather Skinner; 26 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by his three children: Kerry Ellen Carlson (David), Nathan Wyatt Pate, and Elizabeth Marie Hill (Jeremy); and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kathryn.
Our mother and grandmother will be greatly missed by all who love her.
Families are Forever.
We Love You, Mom — until we meet again.
