Joey Dean Braybrooke

July 4, 2002 — November 19, 2023

Ivins, Utah

Joey Braybrooke, 21, of Ivins, passed unexpectedly on November 19, 2023. He was born July 4, 2002, in Honolulu, the son of Chris Braybrooke of Spring Arbor, MI and Lori (Hancey) of Ivins. He graduated with double honors from Tuacahn High School for the Arts (Ivins). Joey was attending Utah Tech University (St. George) studying music. Music was his passion; he played several instruments and was a member of orchestras and bands.

His family and friends are deeply saddened by his tragic death. Joey (a.k.a. Nisleuli Tovli), son of a military family, lived all over the world and experienced many different cultures and places. He was a very kind, gentle, and unique person with very special relationships, none more so than his mom. Joey taught his mom more than anyone ever has or ever could. He loved traveling Europe with his dad on their many historical and cultural journeys, even driving to where his ancestry came from – he was very honored to have experienced that.

His departure leaves a large part of our hearts and soul missing. Joey is survived by his parents Chris Braybrooke (Kristin) and Lori Hancey (Justin); his sisters Cassidy (Alex) Cluff, Sydney (Austin) Cook, and Adrian (Isaac) Kewish.

He leaves his paternal grandparents, Dean and Sandy of Spring Arbor. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Dennis and Phyllis Hancey of Ivins. He is also survived by his nephew Mathew Kewish, his niece Charity Cook, and many special friends around the world. A memorial will be held in St. George in mid-January (TBD).

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to The Trevor Project in the hopes to help the foundation achieve their goal of a brighter future and ending suicide for our children.
