Joseph "Dale" Foster

1953 ~ 2017

Joseph "Dale" Foster returned to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father & those who went before him on April 10, 2017 from cancer. We know he was welcomed with a joyous reunion. He was a gentle giant.

Dale was born June 16, 1953 to Joseph Clift & Claudia Pendleton Foster in St George, Utah. He was the youngest of five children. When Dale was about 5 years old his family moved to the Salt Lake area where he attended school. Dale met his future wife & soul mate, Trudy Lynn Howard while they were in 10th grade. They married a year after graduation in 1972 when they were 19 years old. After high school graduation & before marriage, Dale joined the Army National Guard in California & completed his basic training & schooling. He & Trudy were married August 22nd, 1972. They are the parents of five wonderful children: Krista (Brian) Turner; Michelle (David) Meacham; Joseph (Amy) Foster; Robert (Valorie) Foster; and Angela (Nathan) Bowler. Dale loved his family fiercely & would do anything for them.

Dale started working in the Construction industry when he was 18 years old and continued until about 4 years ago when he started working with his son Rob in the Title Insurance business. He loved creating houses & buildings that were beautiful and felt a great sense of accomplishment in doing so. Hard work is good for the soul.

Dale loved playing the guitar for his children & grandchildren whenever he could, and was a part of two bands as a teenager. There were many camping trips with songs around the campfire & holidays that wouldn't be the same without him & his guitar. He loved camping, fishing, hunting, golf (& even got a hole in one once), racquetball, and being with his family & friends doing the things that made them all happy.

Dale was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints & held many callings throughout his life. He loved God the Father, Jesus Christ & His Gospel & the Holy Ghost & His promptings. Because of his belief in the Gospel of Jesus Christ he left this world in peace, knowing that he would see his many family members & friends again. He told us he would be watching over us all.

Dale is survived by his wife of 44  years, his children, their spouses (whom he considered his children), 24 beautiful grandchildren, mother-in-law Elsie Andersen Howard, brother & sisters, Stephen (Gretchen) Foster, Judy (Cal) Wallace, Jackie (Tom) Malm, Craig (Peggy) Foster, brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Trixie (Jerry) Royer, Leslie (Craig) Marsing, Patti Aitken, Jeff (Shelly) Howard, Kevin (Lisa) Howard, Teresa (Jeff) Atkinson & many nieces & nephews, friends & acquaintances.

He is preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Keith Stott Howard, brother-in-law & sister-in-law Keith Stott Howard Jr & Debbie Van Matre Howard, brother-in-law Glen Aitken & nephew Lucas Aitken.

The family would like to thank Dr Haslem & all the other doctors, nurses, & everyone who was so kind to us while Dale was going through his treatments & to Dixie Hospice & the exceptional care he received at the end of his life.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 2:00pm at the Picturesque Chapel at 820 N Valley View Dr, St George, Ut.  Visitation will be Friday evening, from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 1:00-1:45 p.m. at the same location. Interment will be at the Tonaquint Cemetery.
