Listen to Obituary

Kelly Alma Fredlund, age 75, of St. George, UT passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, Aug 23, 2026. He was born in Portland, Oregon, on April 12, 1951, the oldest of 4 kids.

As a young man, Kelly shared the gospel as an LDS missionary in Alberta, Canada, then returned and married his sweetheart Karen Sukut in the Los Angeles, CA Temple on July 7, 1973.

He is survived by his wife Karen, daughter Shelley (Alberto), daughter-in-law Alayna, Brothers Rick & Mike, Sister Dorene, 10 Grandchildren, and many beloved nieces, nephews & in-laws. He was preceded in death by 2 of his children, Garrett and Amber, and his parents Rocky and Bonnie Fredlund.

Kelly was a hard worker, a good provider, and always ready to serve. He served in many callings in the LDS Church, including as a temple worker when he still had a young family, and the temple was neither close nor convenient to get to. He also took it upon himself to ease the suffering of his fellow man, often helping and serving the homeless or downtrodden in his community whenever the opportunity presented itself.

He was a man of many talents and had a knack for fixing almost anything. He made his living as an Appliance repairman for many years and later on as a plumber. He made instant friends of people everywhere he went, both in Hesperia, CA, where he raised his family, and then collected a whole new crew here in St. George, UT over the past 30+ years.

Most of all, he was fun. He believed that life was meant to be enjoyed. He would always say, “If it ain’t fun, it ain’t worth it.” He could often be found in some sort of mischievous situation caused by trying to make the dull things more enjoyable. He enjoyed spending time with his family, being outdoors, and driving his precious ’69 Toyota Land Cruiser over all the rocks and hills he could find, usually with a kid, grandkid, or best buddy in the passenger seat. His laugh was memorable and unrestrained. He would often tip his head back and laugh from his gut in the biggest way. I’m sure his laugh will continue to rattle the Heavens for all eternity.
