Larry Merle Fugit passed away on April 19, 2026, in St. George, Utah, at the age of 88. He was born on July 7, 1937, in Wichita, Kansas, to Donald Floyd Fugit and Mildred Lavern Shaw Fugit.

Larry proudly served in the Merchant Marines. In his younger years, he played baseball in high school and enjoyed fishing. He later spent many years living in Hawaii, where he loved swimming in his pool and tending to his yard. He also owned and operated Island P.M. Forklift Services and Repair. He loved the islands and built both a life and livelihood there.

He had a sharp wit, amazing sense of humor, fiercely independent, and Larry lived life on his own terms.

He is survived by his children: Shawn (Carla), Nacole (Ryan), Lanette (George), Jay (Christy), Desiree, and Alisa, his wife Harriett’s daughter, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his sister, Donna Jean Fugit.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriett Fugit, his former wife, Linda Fugit; his son, Larry Fugit Jr.; his parents, Donald Floyd Fugit and Mildred Lavern Shaw Fugit; and his siblings, Jerry Dean Fugit, Judy Arlene Fugit Walker, and Jack Fugit.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to those who cared for Larry in his final years, for their compassion, kindness, and support.

Larry will be remembered for his independence, his wit, and the love he had for his children.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
