Lavon Randall

August 8, 1942 — November 19, 2024

Enterprise, Utah

Lavon Randall, a special dad of 13 children, 67 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren whom he loved each one beyond words, has gone home. He passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2024 in the early morning hours at his home. The family spent the day and night surrounding him with their love.

He was born August 8, 1942, 82 years ago, in Cedar City, Utah to Willard and Alta Staheli Randall. He was the second of seven children: Theron (deceased), Lavon, Weston, Roger, Delsene (deceased), Verla, and LaNett. He was married to Colleen Terry Randall January 11,1964 in the St. George Temple.

He was a graduate of Enterprise High School with life time friends he has never forgotten. He loved the game of baseball and was the catcher for the high school team. He attended LDS Business College for a year, then served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to the Eastern States. After returning from his mission, he married his sweetheart Colleen and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. He farmed with his dad and brothers raising chipping potatoes and hay. He loved, loved the farm and teaching his family the importance of hard work.

His love of baseball continued after marriage and he played on the church Fast Pitch softball team for many years as catcher and the team made it to the ‘All Church’ Fast Pitch tournament many times. He moved from playing to coaching Little League for many years and helped lead the effort to get the towns first Little League field built. He truly enjoyed watching his sons and grandsons play the game he loved.

His life was given to serving others. He served on the Town Board of Enterprise and numerous church callings such as: Primary teacher of Blazer boys, President of the Uvada Stake 70’s, High Council, Bishop of the Enterprise 1st Ward, Counselor in the Uvada Stake Presidency, Stake President of the Enterprise Stake, mission to the Marshall Islands with his wife Colleen. He was an ordinance worker and sealer in the St. George Temple, then assigned as a sealer in the Cedar City Temple, and returned to the St. George Temple after the rededication where he served faithfully.

Another life passion was the Boy Scout program. When he served on the high council in the Uvada Stake, he was instrumental in moving the scouting program forward with many of the boys receiving the Eagle Scout award. His influence in scouting helped motivate his own eight sons to receive their Eagle Scout award. He attended Wood Badge and multiple National Jamborees with some of his sons and grandsons. For his outstanding contributions to the local scouting program, he was nominated to receive the highest council-level award, the Silver Beaver Award, and was presented with that award.

He is survived by his wife, Colleen Terry Randall; twelve of his thirteen children: Holly (John) Cline of West Jordan, Utah; Jan (Arlan) Simkins of Enterprise, Utah; Wade (Sharon) Randall of Enterprise, Utah; Budell Randall of Enterprise, Utah; Teri (Jim) Crouch of Enterprise, Utah; Keri (Quint) Jones of Enterprise, Utah; Duke (Tandy) Randall of Enterprise, Utah; Sonny (Kimberla) Randall of Queen Creek, Arizona; Samuel (Marci) Randall of Riverton, Utah; Joseph (T.K.) Randall of St. George, Utah; Robert (Sara) Randall of Enoch, Utah; Benjamin (Cammi) Randall of St. George, Utah; 67 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren and four siblings.
