St. George, UT- Leland Bruce Barnett, 82, died on November 29, 2017, in St. George, UT. He was born August 21, 1935 in Los Angeles, CA to Daniel and Ethelyn Barnett. Bruce married Armi Kaarina Sarkka in the Los Angeles, CA Temple June 7, 1961.

Bruce was raised in Fontana, California. He had a PhD in Biology and taught at Waynesburg University in Waynesburg, PA. Bruce and Armi relocated to St. George in 2014. He loved nature, Scouting, genealogy, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Bruce was preceded in death by his wife, Armi, in 2015.

Bruce is survived by his 3 siblings: Philip Barnett, Linda Barnett and Diane Siafanua. 3 children: Eric B. Barnett, Kaisa Eaton, and David L. Barnett. 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Viewing at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 449 South 300 East, St. George, UT 84770. Interment will be Tonaquint Cemetery.
