Leo Fred Sanchez born July 17, 1930, and died August 31, 2026.
Leo Sanchez was born in Delta, Colorado, to Florencio Sanchez and Juanita Maez Sanchez. After graduating from High School in Utah, he joined the Marines at age 17. He spent 4 years in the Marines 2 of the years in the Korean War. He was among the “Chosen Few” who survived the Battle of Chosen Reservoir. After 4 years in the Marines, he returned to Utah; and worked for AT&T Telephone Company. He had the honor of residing at the Veterans Administration Home in Ivins, Utah, for the past 2.5 years. The staff cared for him with professionalism and love.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Sanchez. He is survived by his sisters, Olympia Harrison and Lorrain West along with his brothers Arnie Sanchez and Phil Sanchez. He is also survived by his son, Lenny Sanchez, stepdaughters Terri Parry (Lynn), Wendy Giles (Todd), and stepson Larry Lords (Joan).
Graveside services will be held in Salt Lake City on September 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery, 3401 Highland Dr, Salt Lake City, Utah. Condolences can be left at McMillan Mortuary, St. George Utah. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Veterans Administration.
