Linda Hartle, age 72, passed away on January 27, 2026, in St. George, Utah. She was born on July 28, 1954, in Farmington, New Mexico, at San Juan Regional Hospital, the daughter of William and Dee McAlpine. She married Jim Hartle on May 5, 1994. She was previously married to Jim Hurst and had three wonderful sons: Chris, Trent, and Rob.

Linda was raised primarily in an El Paso Gas Company field camp, where she developed her adventurous spirit early on. She would ride her motorcycle into a nearby town as often as she could get away with it. She earned her high school diploma and later became certified as an X-ray Technician in Scottsdale, Arizona. In addition, she achieved certifications as a Certified Nursing Assistant and later a Certified Medication Technician in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She worked primarily at Bloomfield Nursing Home in Bloomfield, New Mexico.

Linda was blessed with the gift of kindness from above and was known for spreading joy to her patients, friends, and family. She always had a smile on her face and was lighthearted, playful, and full of fun. Jim admits that Linda’s playfulness would at times “about make him climb a tree.” Jim loved Linda dearly, and she meant the world to him.

Linda surrendered her life to Jesus and joined the First Baptist Church of Bloomfield, where she was baptized in 2001. She served for a brief time in the jail ministry with Judy Smith and was also involved in sending cards for special occasions. She was always interested in finding ways to serve the Lord. Linda loved to wake up early and study the Bible, taking time to absorb what God was speaking to her through His word.

Linda loved to travel and explore new places and was always up for a new adventure. Jim recalls being nervous while exploring and fishing in mountain lakes—first, because he was afraid she would bring back a cute little baby bear, and second, because if there was a cliff around, she was going to climb it. Jim often had to rescue her from ledges she could not safely descend, usually with her puppies in tow. She loved her puppies, Sir Tiger and Sir Rascal, who stayed by her side and were always quick to defend her. Jim often joked that while he was eating leftover spaghetti, the puppies were eating steak—and he says this is true. Linda loved her puppies, but Jim loved her spaghetti, so it all worked out. She was a great cook and enjoyed bringing goodies to the grandkids.

Linda deeply loved her best friend and sister, Judy Seely. They often went to shows and concerts together and loved shopping and doing “girly stuff.” Judy would travel all the way from Cortez, Colorado, just to go shopping with Linda, a kindness that made Linda feel very special.

In the last few years of her life, Linda was blessed to spend precious time near her family, who were her pride and joy. She was able to live close to her sons Chris and Rob and their children, a gift she cherished deeply. Linda loved watching her grandchildren play their sports, attend dance recitals, and celebrate graduations. Most of all, she delighted in spoiling them—often sneaking them cash whenever she could, taking them birthday and school clothes shopping, and showing up with thoughtful gifts just because.

Linda lovingly served her family in countless ways, especially through her wonderful cooking and baking. When she moved closer, her family quickly learned just how great a cook she was and how much she loved caring for them. Linda and Jim also enjoyed taking the grandchildren fishing and making memories together. Being near her family in the last few years of her life brought Linda great joy and comfort, and she treasured every moment.

Linda is survived by her husband, Jim Hartle; his sons, Jason Hartle and Calvin Hartle, and Calvin’s children, Maddox and Paisley Hartle. She is also survived by her sons, Chris Hurst (Kathy), Trent Hurst (preceded her in death), and Rob Hurst (Lindsey).

Chris and Kathy’s children are Braden (Bre), Kyler, and Shania (Merritt) (Deven). Braden and Bre’s children are Tatum and Jagger. Shania and Deven’s children are Sawyer and Beau. She is survived by the daughter of Trent Hurst, Brooklyn Hurst. Rob and Lindsey’s children are RJ, Parker, Lily, Bradley, and Cooper Hurst. She is also survived by her sister, Judy Seely. She is preceded in death by her sister Annette Black.

Linda will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her kindness, faith, joy, and the love she poured into her family. She will also be remembered for her playful spirit, her laughter, and the lighthearted fun she brought into every room she entered.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 12:00 (noon) at the Baptist Church in Hurricane, 1565 State Street Hurricane, Utah.  Inurnment will be at the LaVerkin City Cemetery.
