Linda Carol Barlow McMillan, 74, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, October 11, 2018 after an eleven-year battle with Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD). Linda was born in Ogden, Utah on June 15, 1944, the first of five children born to Elwyn and Helen Harris Barlow. Linda had a happy childhood and grew up surrounded by family and friends in Ogden and then moved to Clearfield where she attended junior high and graduated from Davis High School in 1962. Linda loved her time at Davis High and the friendships she made there. She worked at Hill Air Force Base as a stenographer prior to raising her family and later enjoyed seasonal work at Tax Works in Kaysville.
On August 6, 1963 Linda married her sweetheart, Kent J McMillan in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with six beautiful children, one daughter and five sons and raised their family in Layton, Utah. Linda’s crowning achievement and one of her greatest joys in this life was becoming a wife, mother and grandmother. She absolutely loved and adored her family and loved any opportunity to spend time with them. Family vacations and camping trips were her favorite and she was always planning the next one.
Linda was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved and lived the Gospel of Jesus Christ and followed her Savior as she selflessly served others. She was always cooking, baking, canning and sewing for others. She enjoyed making quilts and giving them to each of her family members. Linda loved music and played the piano beautifully. Linda also loved the temple and was always so excited to visit various temples across the country, often planning road trips with stops at temples along the way. Linda and Kent served in the Ogden Temple and later served in the Canada Halifax and Pittsburgh Pennsylvania missions together.
Linda will forever be an example of happiness, kindness and love to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Linda is survived by her husband of 55 years, Kent; her daughter Becky (David) Schenk and sons Robert (Sue), Brett (Joe), Brandon (Emily), Brian (Kamie) and Burke (Jamie) McMillan as well as seventeen grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way; her three brothers, Reed (Diane), Gary (Teresa) and Bruce Barlow and sister Cindy Shirley as well as many nieces and nephews. Linda was preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Apple Village, Chancellor Gardens and Inspiration Hospice especially Linsey, Coco, and Kelsie for their kind and tender care.
