Marilyn Janicki Barnes, 84, died Friday, October 7, 2011 in St. George, UT. She was born on February 16, 1927 in Minot, ND to Arthur and Edna O'Hearn.
As a carefree, single young woman in the early 1950's she and a couple of girlfriends moved to sunny South California to find life, love and laughter. In 1955 she began a 38 year marriage to Donald Janicki with whom she raised four children and retired from the Santa Ana Unified School District. Don passed away in 1992. Marilyn has lived in St. George since 1994. She married Gilbert Barnes in 2006 and they enjoyed a happy and loving union until Gil's passing in 2008.
Marilyn nurtured and enjoyed her family and friendships, those dating back to first grade as well as a tight circle that grew from her involvement in the St. George Catholic Church. She received great comfort and pleasure worshipping our Lord Jesus Christ.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter: Judith (David) Brader, two sons: Michael and Thomas Janicki, two grandsons: Justin (Alyson) and Jared Brader, one granddaughter: Natasha Janicki and three adorable great-grandchildren: Loryn, Max and Lila Brader. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and her husbands: Donald and Gilbert, her son Bill and a great grandson Rex.
Funeral mass will be held at the St. George Catholic Church on Monday, October 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. A Rosery will be held at 10:15 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at the Tonaquint Cemetery.
