Marjorie Baker

February 28, 1930 — February 2, 2019

St. George, Utah

Marjorie Lucille Baker, 88, departed peacefully to be face to face with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 2, 2019.  Marge was born on February 28,1930 to Edward and Thelma Jackson, she was the oldest of 8 siblings; Joyce, Carol, Nancy, Diane, Kay, Ted and Scott.   In 1948, Marge married her Knight in Shining Armor, Evan Leroy Baker.  Together Marge and Evan raised three amazing children; Ron, Greg and Marla.  Marge and Evan dedicated their lives to raising their children and became the best parents, grandparents, great-grandparents that anyone could ever ask for.

Marge was not only the perfect mom and grandma, she was PTA President, she proudly served the Salt Lake City Fire Department with Evan while he was the Fire Chief, she served many years as student counselor at South High School and even ran for City Council.

After working hard for many years Marge and Evan built a beautiful cabin in Pine Mountain where lots of fun memories were shared with family and friends.  Later they purchased a motorhome that they went on many adventures many times with Marge’s sisters and husbands.

After Evan passed away, Salt Lake City just wasn’t the same for Marge and she decided to move south to St. George where she took up residence at Sterling Court Assisted Living.  She had a lovely home there, but more importantly, she made many more dear friends whom she loved to spend her time with.

Marge is survived by her three children Ron Baker (Barbara), Greg Baker (Bonnie) and Marla Griffin (Steve). Also she is survived by 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild all of whom she knew and loved personally and dearly.

Marge’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Marge’s care-givers at Sterling Court and the Encompass Hospice Staff, Suzanne and Tammy, who made it possible for her to really enjoy her last weeks.  She was happy and peaceful when she went to be with the Lord.

At Marge’s request, there will be no formal services.  A private family gathering will be held at a later date. We will miss our Mom, but will see her again because by God’s Grace she made the choice to accept Jesus Christ by faith alone in Christ alone.  John 3:16
