Mary Christina Garcia-Flores

At the age 98, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and treasured friend has peacefully completed her earthly journey and is now celebrating life on the other side. We imagine she is once again lifting her beautiful voice in song, surrounded by heavenly music and an audience that she always loved and appreciated.

She was born in Houston, Texas to Leopaldo Garcia and Sofia Rios and later moved to Bracketville, Texas where she was raised on a goat and pecan ranch. She later moved to So. California and finally, Utah.

She was a professionally trained coloratura soprano and possessed a voice that could only be described as the voice of an angel.

Her musical education included studies at Juilliard School of Music in New York, and attending Pepperdine College in Houston, Texas. She sang with the Houston Symphony in her 20’s. She later sang with the Downey Symphony in Southern California, countless private venues, churches and special events and occasions. Wherever she sang, she brought beauty, grace, and emotion, leaving memories that would remain long after the final note of her performances.

While music was one of her greatest gifts, her family was her greatest treasure.

She is survived by her seven children and spouses-Carol Rodriguez-Hunter (Dave), Gregory Luciano Flores (Carol), Joel Robert Flores, Peter Nicholas Flores (Sarah) Paula Annette Flores, Micky Flores and Glenn Flores (deceased) She also had four step children-Juan Flores (deceased), Arturo Flores-deceased (Nina), Carmen Flores-Moore (deceased) and VictorFlores (Juanita).

Her posterity includes many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry her love, wisdom, stories and legacy for future generations. She was a woman whose life reached far beyond her performances on stage. Her greatest performance was the life she lived and the love she gave so generously to those around her.

The final note of her earthly song has been sung, but her melody will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Though we grieve her passing, we choose to celebrate her life. Until we meet again, may she rest in peace as heaven rejoices at the arrival of one more beautiful voice.

A viewing will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026 from 12:00-1:30 at McMillan Mortuary at 499 E. Tabernacle St. St. George, UT 84770. Following the viewing there will be Graveside Service will be at 2:00pm at the Tonaquint Cemetery, 1777 S. Dixie Dr. St. George, UT 84770.
