Maurine Steed Harris, 84, our loving mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on October 31, 2011, into the loving arms of her eternal sweetheart, Franklin S. Harris, Jr. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple. She maintained her integrity and dignity to the end despite her tremendous physical challenges. She overcame many obstacles, inspiring everyone who knew her.

Maurine, was the youngest of three daughters born to, Glenn and Della Steed, April 27, 1927. She grew up in the Salt Lake Valley and lived in California and Virginia before returning back to Utah.

Her great legacy is her family, and her spirit will live on forever through them. Maurine's testimony and her faithful passion to serve in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, especially the Nursery, was achieved through the numerous callings that she served in. She will forever be remembered for her loving and generous heart and the ability to find value in all people. Their home was a haven for family and guests coming from all over the world. She had the ability to stretch her delicious meals for unexpected, but welcomed guests.

Maurine leaves behind her loving children; Franklin S. Harris III (Mirta), JoAnne Michels (Jerry), Bernie Harris (Elaine), Michael Harris (Nancy), Morgan Harris (Colleen), Della Carlisle, Chauncy Harris (Dianne), Linda Petty, Mark Harris (Kimberly), and Diana Dutton (Ted). Posterity; 61 Grandchildren, 84 Great-grandchildren and one on the way, and 7 Great-great-grandchildren. Devoted sisters; DeBeth Dickman (Vernon), and Ruth Osness.

She was greeted in heaven by her husband; Franklin S. Harris Jr., son; Wendell Harris, daughter; Jolie Harris, five grandchildren, and two great-grand children.

She is loved greatly and will be missed by many.

In her honor, a viewing will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Springdale Chapel on Monday November 7, 2011 from 9:00-10:30 a.m. with the funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery with grave dedication at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Primary Children's Medical Center.
