Michael Holt

We are immensely saddened to announce the death of Michael Howard Holt. He passed from this world unexpectedly in his home on October 28, 2023. Michael will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was 60 years old.

Michael was born on January 1, 1963, to Gary and Joyce Holt. He was celebrated as the first baby born that year in Uintah County. He spent most of his childhood in Enterprise, UT, and by the age of 10 was working on the farms driving tractors. Michael attended Enterprise High School and took part in multiple extracurricular activities, including playing on the basketball team, and starring in their theater productions. He was always a very charismatic person and incredibly goal-oriented. He was elected the student body president, was the valedictorian of his graduating class of 1980, and earned a scholarship to Brigham Young University.

Michael served an LDS mission in Los Angeles, CA. He fell in love with the city and spent a large part of his adult life between LA and London (UK). Michael was exceptionally intelligent, talented, and creative. He worked as a director, editor and producer of television commercials, infomercials, and music videos. However, Michael’s true passion was music. He was a gifted lyricist and spent many hours of his last years writing songs.

Michael married twice in his life. His first marriage was to Melanie Holt in St. George, UT (1986-1993). They had two children together: Christian and Megan. He later married Samantha Smith in London, England (1993-1998), and had three children: Jacob, Paris, and Daisy.

He is survived by his mother, Joyce Holt, his brothers, Daniel, Gary and William Holt, his sisters, Laurie Clonts, Lisa Griffin, Maria Counts, Amber Nascimento, and all of his children.

He had a life filled with love and heartache, success and failure, and yet he saw beauty in every moment.

We will always remember his smile, his stories, and his passion. May he rest in peace.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 10th from 12:30pm-2pm at 88 Center Street Enterprise, UT 84725 (the meeting hall). Interment will take place at the Holt Cemetery in Enterprise, UT.
