Nancy Loraine Stanley Edwards, 77, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025 in Washington, Utah. She was born May 31, 1948 in Ogden, Utah to Hubert and Brenice (Madsen) Stanley. She married Douglas Edwards in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 15, 1968. Nancy was a dedicated mother and she carried her many gifts into every part of her life. Known for her creativity, talents, and sparkling sense of humor, she brought joy, beauty, and laughter to those who knew her. She was raised in Washington Terrace, Utah, where she enjoyed a happy childhood filled with memories alongside her older brother, Norman, her younger sister, Shirley, and her beloved paternal grandmother.
After graduating from San Jose State University with a degree in psychology, she went on to work as a substitute elementary school teacher in the late 1980s through the mid-1990s, where she delighted in spending time with her students and encouraging their growth.
Her faith was the foundation of her life. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many capacities over the years - from Relief Society to Girls Camp, to Family History and helping to create beautiful Christmas events. Temple work, in particular, held a very sacred place in her heart. Pleasing God and feeling near to Him was something she prioritized and carried with her.
She spent much of the 1970s in Glendale, California, where she loved going to the beach with Doug. Together they later moved to San Jose, California, raising their young daughters there for about a decade. In 1989, she moved to Folsom, California, where she built a home and was part of the community for over 30 years before she and Doug retired to Washington, Utah, to spend their golden years among the stunning red rocks and desert landscapes. She especially enjoyed a delicious frozen yogurt, shopping, or a taking a peaceful walk in nature.
Endlessly creative and talented, she filled her days with art. From stamping and crafting to knitting, crocheting, and quilting, she was always making the world around her more beautiful and inspiring. She loved music, theater, and watching her favorite films and TV shows like The Gilmore Girls. She truly delighted in travel. Over the years, she explored Italy, England, Ireland, the United States,
Egypt, Prince Edward Island, China and more. And even when she would visit the ocean just a few hours away from home, she would revel in every moment. Most of all, Nancy’s sense of humor was unforgettable and she could draw out laughter even in difficult times, and she had a gift for making others feel lighter and brighter in her presence.
She will be remembered as a woman of deep faith, endless creativity, humor, and care. Her family and friends will carry with them the memory of her laughter, wisdom, and devotion, which continue to be a blessing in their lives.
She is survived by her husband Douglas Edwards and daughters Stephanie Edwards of California, and Melinda Edwards and wife Karina Larsen of Denmark.
