Pamela Joy Kingsley, 70, was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident July 24, 2018 in St. George, Utah. She was born April 4, 1948 in Frankfurt, Germany to delighted parents Edwin Charles Kingsley and Dorothea Fetzer Kingsley while Captain Kingsley was stationed in the US Army there for two years following World War II.
Pam, her older sister Pat, and her parents returned to the United States at the conclusion of Capt. Kingsley’s assignment and she grew up in Williamsburg and Springfield, Virginia, and Salt Lake City and Layton, Utah.
Pam’s father died when she was only nine years old and her mother died just two years later. She, Pat and her little brother, Ed, were then taken in by their mother’s sister, Carol Fetzer Bitner and her husband, Robert Felt Bitner and their six children, who lived in Layton, Utah.
She graduated from Davis High School in Kaysville, Utah and received her teaching degree at BYU-Hawaii and BYU-Provo. She taught French and Home Economics in middle school for the next twenty-nine years in the Davis County School District. She loved horses, dogs, cats and all things French. In fact, she spent a one-year sabbatical in southern France.
After she retired from teaching, she moved from Salt Lake City to Winchester Hills in St. George in 2002 where she lived with her beloved horses, dogs and cats for the rest of her life. She also worked as a distributor for Herbalife for over twenty-five years. She was an avid runner during most of her adult life, usually arising at 3:00 AM for her daily runs. She also loved to restore old cars and trucks. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved to sing in the ward choir.
She leaves many dear friends from her Winchester Hills First Ward family.
Pam is survived by her sister, Patricia Tucker (Paul) in Seattle, WA and brother Ed (Kathy) in Henderson, NV, her Aunt Carol Fetzer Bitner who raised her (Layton, UT), her six cousins with whom she grew up and were more like brothers and sisters to her, Kathy Bitner Oviatt (Jed) (Layton, UT), Mark Bitner (Lois) (Layton, UT), Bruce Bitner (Annette) (Kaysville, UT), Alan Bitner (Marilyn) (North Salt Lake City, UT), Barbara Bitner Warburton (Larry) (Deweyville, UT), and Matt Bitner (Sally) (Deweyville, UT) with many nieces and nephews.
