Reba Childs

d. January 11, 2012

Reba Irene Rowe Childs, our loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother 89, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2012 while at her son's home in Santa Clara, Utah. She was born October 14, 1922 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah to Franklin Dewey and Edna Bernetta Rowe. Irene grew up in Mt. Pleasant, graduated from North Sanpete HS. During WWII she worked at the parachute plant in Manti. She met John David Childs and while he was on leave from the military, Irene and David were married and sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on February 21, 1945. She immediately joined him by moving to Maine where they started their family. After David was discharged from the service they returned home to Utah, lived in various towns until finally settling in Salt Lake. Irene was a faithful member of the LDS church and served in many callings. She served in the Cub Scouts, numerous Sunday School, and Primary positions, as well as Relief Society President. She and David served two missions, the first in the Tennessee Nashville Mission and the second at the LDS Employment Office. Irene also served as a Temple Ordinance Worker. Irene's biggest joy was that of being a wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family and thoroughly enjoyed devoting her life to her husband and children. Nothing gave her more joy than to sit and listen to her children and grandchildren as they shared their experiences, challenges, and accomplishments. We could always count on Mom. When she would say good-bye she would always add "We Love You", and "come again." She is survived by her husband, children Terry (Roger) Kimber – West Jordan, Tim (Linda) - Santa Clara, Van (Margie) – Murray, Marc (Bridget) - West Valley City, Todd (Pam) - Riverton, Trudy (John) Lopez - Boise, Idaho, 30 Grandchildren, and many great and great great grandchildren, sisters Janette Curtis and LaRae Proctor. Preceded in death by parents, 2 brothers, 2 sisters and sons Randy and John. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Westland 1 st Ward Church Building located at 7115 South 3200 West, West Jordan, Utah. Funeral services will be held at the same location on Thursday January 12, 2012 at 11:00 am with a viewing one hour prior to the service at 10:00 am. Interment will be at the Lake Hills Cemetery following the funeral. Thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday and days before that too. We will think of you in silence, we will often speak your name. All we have are memories and a picture in a frame. Your memory is a keepsake, with which we’ll never part. God has you in his keeping and we have you in our hearts.
