Rex Curtiss Bush

Rex Curtiss Bush (Papa), age 72, of St. George, Utah passed away peacefully at his home on November 21, 2025 from renal failure as a consequence of chronic myelomonocytic leukemia. His passing leaves a hole in the hearts and lives of everyone who knew and loved him.

He was born in Longview, Washington to Rex Cole Bush and Arline Quanstrom Bush Fitzgerald, he was the 2nd of 6 children. Growing up in Albany, Oregon where he met his wife as a teenager. Rex served a mission in Italy for the LDS Church. He graduated cum laude, receiving his undergraduate degree from BYU and his law degree from the University of Utah. He married the love of his life, Janet Rae Hicks on July 16th, 1988. They started a solo law practice where he and Jan worked together all 37 years. Rex and Jan served side by side in the Utah Air National Guard.

Rex was an admired attorney, who for a number of years, served as the President of the Utah Bar Association, Solo and Small Firm Section. He was often called to speak at Continuing Legal Education seminars in Utah and around the country. He spoke several languages quite well but continued to be fluent in Italian. He loved reading, learning new things, and gaining as much knowledge about anything he could. Rex was a very spiritual man that enjoyed going on walks, playing the piano, studying and playing chess and travel with Jan to many places within the United States as well as 22 foreign countries. Spending time with Jan, his children and grandchildren was always the most important thing to him. He was wildly funny with an incredible sense of humor. Rex had many friends who loved and respected him and very much liked by just about anyone that he met.

Rex is preceded in death by his father, Rex, and his mother, Arline. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jan, and 5 children and 12 grandchildren…Alicia Bush Moss, her husband Justin, their 3 children, Ema, Bracken and Gracie; Jenifer Bush Miller, her husband Jason, their two boys, Carter and Kaden; Angie Bush Becker, her husband Ryan, their 4 children, Jaxon, Mya, Clara and Charlotte; Mykal Bush, his wife Shaylee and their girls, Haisley, twins - Harlow and Oaklyn; Carrie Bush Goodwin and her husband,Travis and his daughter Presley; and siblings: Jerry; Michael; Ken, sister-in-law Kenia; Teresa; Sam, sister-in-law Lola.

The family would like to thank McMillan Mortuary Staff for their special kindness in our time of sorrow.

There will not be a funeral but a celebration of life is planned to take place sometime in January 2026.
