Richard (Rick) Sidney Moser Jr., Age 64, Passed away at home in Hurricane on May 18, 2026. He was born November 21, 1961 in Salt Lake City to Richard and Judy Moser. He married Karen Wilde Moser on June 17, 1983, and they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 17, 1993.

Rick grew up in Kearns, Utah and loved spending time with his siblings. He attended Kerns High School, graduating in 1980. He cherished spending time with his wife and children, exploring, camping and fishing in the outdoors, creating a lifetime of memories together.

His lifelong passion for the movie theater industry began in high school when he went to work at the Redwood Drive-in. That spark never faded. He went on to work for Cineplex including Trolley Square, and eventually served as City Manager for all Carmike Cinemas over Salt Lake, Ogden, and Provo. During that time, he oversaw the construction and operation of the Hollywood Connection family entertainment center. Later, Rick moved with his family to Southern Utah, where he continued his career with Westates Theaters. In 2004, he led the development of Coral Cliffs Cinema 8 in Hurricane. Under his leadership, the theater became a beloved community landmark. With his years of experience, he made it his own and the continual evolving business that local residents came to love. He always went above and beyond to make the theater a special place for his staff and the community and always strove to give them the best experience possible. In 2024, he championed his vision for a new family entertainment center. He hosted the groundbreaking ceremony in October and remained deeply involved in every step of the project. His influence and legacy will live on in every detail of this new endeavor.

Rick was deeply committed to public service. In Apple Valley, he served on the volunteer fire department with his son Anthony, the planning commission, the town council, and then as Mayor from 2010 to 2017. He worked tirelessly to expand the water system, improve roads, enhance community events, strengthen the fire department, and develop a town park. Whether it was clearing drainage ditches late at night during flash floods or fighting for funding and better infrastructure, Rick gave countless unpaid hours to the community he loved. He served not for recognition, but because he genuinely cared about making life better for everyone. Even when his efforts went unnoticed or unappreciated, he didn’t care; he didn’t need the validation that he was doing great things. He had many friends that knew, and that’s all that mattered to him.

In his free time, Rick loved exploring the Southern Utah desert, rock hounding, and discovering hidden treasures with close friends. He had a special soft spot for animals. As a child he had a pet raccoon, and in recent years he befriended an orphaned raccoon and rescued a litter of abandoned baby chipmunks. Most recently, he was rarely seen without his beloved dog Archie, his constant companion.

Rick touched countless lives in his time on earth as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, mentor, and friend. He was a natural leader who mentored many young people who worked for him over the years. He counseled them, supported them, and even officiated the weddings of many former employees. His kindness, work ethic, and quiet generosity left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his children, Anthony Moser (and Misty Devereaux) of Apple Valley and Shannon Orr (and husband Brandon) of Grantsville; grandchildren Tristan and Hayden Orr; brothers Mike Moser of Grantsville and Kirk Moser of West Valley; sister Jill Moser of Grantsville; and his beloved dog Archie. He was preceded in death by his wife Karen, and his parents Richard and Judy Moser.
