Robert Bourget

d. May 4, 2012

Ivins, UT-Our husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend, Robert Allan Bourget, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on May 4, 2012 in Ivins, UT. Robert was born on January 21, 1936 in Fitchburg, MA, to Albert and Eldora Trembley Bourget. He married Shirley Turner on October 6, 1956 and together they had Mark, Deborah, Denise and MaryAnn. They lived in Tooele, UT, where they happily raised their children and in 1997, Bob and Shirley decided to move to Southern Utah to enjoy their retirement life.

Bob proudly served our country during the Korean War. He worked at and retired from Tooele Army Depot as a Security Guard and later as a Sandblaster in the Paint Dept. He had a great sense of humor and he enjoyed just sitting around with family and friends reminiscing about the good ole days and the good times they had. He enjoyed taking care of his yard and garden, boating, hunting, fishing and he loved to just 'go shooting'. He loved hiking and he was so proud of his hikes up to Angels Landing in Zion National Park. He had a gift of identifying old classic cars. And he loved playing with his great-grandchildren. Though Bob was a shy and private person, once he got to know you, you became his best friend for life. He was a proud member of St. George Catholic Church. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Robert is survived by Shirley, his wife of 55 years; son Deacon Mark (Esther) Bourget, Ivins, UT; daughters, Denise (Bill) Matier, Hurricane, UT; and MaryAnn Hunter, Ivins, UT; sister Jean (Gary) McGee, Mesquite, TX; brother John Paul (Linda) Bourget, Erda, UT; and sister-in-law, Ethel Bourget, Tooele, UT; (7) grandchildren Amie, Amber and Aaron Gardner, Chris Macier, Nikki Matier, Michelle (Garrett) Rustad and Amanda (Jake) Repp; (11) great-grandchildren Emily Gardner; Araya Gardner; Jessy, Elizabeth and Sara Gardner; Kayden, Serenity and Teegan Macier; Madison Rustad; Jayden and Skylar Repp.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Eldora Bourget; brother, Norman Bourget; daughter, Deborah Gardner; grandsons, Dustin Macier and Mark Bourget, Jr.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. George Catholic Church on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at 11:00 am. Military Honors will be held after the Funeral Mass. Reception to follow in Kuzy Hall, St. George Catholic Church

The family wishes to give a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Joseph Te and Dr. Thomas Jones for the love and wonderful care given to Bob and to the wonderful nurses of Hospice, especially Collette and Heather, and Denise.
