Rulon Kartchner

March 24, 1931 — July 18, 2018

St. George

Rulon (Rue) Kartchner at the young age of 87 has gone to be with his Heavenly Father on July 18, 2018 in Saint George, Utah.  He is survived by his beautiful wife, Barbara Kartchner, son’s Gary Kartchner, Rick(& Caralee) Kartchner, Ron Kartchner and daughter Sue (& Jon) Chollet.
Rue grew up in Snowflake Arizona, with his father Lafayette Kartchner, mother Alice Smith Kartchner, sister’s Felice Kartchner Swain & Lucille Kartchner Christiansen and brother Rey Kartchner.
Rue married Barbara Beaty on September 5, 1953 in Mesa, Arizona and they would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year.  Soon after their wedding, Rue & Barbara moved to California and in 1965 they decided on Covina (where they became known as RueBarb) as the place they wanted to raise their family. They lived in Covina for many years and moved later after the kids were all grown.
Rue was a hard worker running his own accounting business for many years and holding several positions within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  He loved serving in the church and he loved supporting his kids in sports and other activities.  When his son’s were younger he was always involved
with Covina Little League both as President and Team Manager and his love & commitment for his family was always felt and ever-present.  He also loved driving cars & trucks and could drive just about anything on the road including some of his kids hot rods which always put a smile on his face, especially if it was a V8 with a 4 speed. He had a knack for being a pretty good mechanic too.
Rue always had a great sense of humor. Even after suffering a stroke in 2012 that left him half-paralyzed,he continually maintained a jovial attitude and infectious laugh that would make everyone around him smile.
His character, integrity and generosity were always shown by his example in how he lived his life. He taught us, above all, to do what’s right, love the Lord in all things, love your family and always look for opportunities to help and support others. And he loved his Cadillac’s too!
Rue enjoyed his family, which is fortunate because there are many of us.
