Sharon Lyn Morse

Sharon Lyn Smith Morse passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026 in St George, Utah. She was born on March 21 (‘how dare you ask me my age’) to Norma Virginia Olson and Lloyd Eugene Smith in Los Angeles, California. She grew up in Tustin, and married her college sweetheart, Bill in the Los Angeles Latter-Day Saint temple, and they raised their family in Salt Lake and Mission Viejo. 

Sharon graduated from BrighamYoung University in History and University of California Irvine with her Elementary Ed teaching certificate. Passionate about teaching and a lifetime learner herself, she taught elementary school for 35 years and filled her classrooms with her creativity and spark. A lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she had a strong testimony, loved BYU Education Week, and served in many callings. She was very opinionated, loving and sensitive while also the biggest spitfire on earth. A sharp wit and jokester, she entertained and kept us on our toes simultaneously. We’ll miss finding random notes, pens, and bobby pins in unusual places, along with the green drink, so much carrot juice, AM talk radio in the background and a hundred other little things that made Sharon so unique. 

She is survived by her daughter, Tarilyn (Gaylen) Hunt, son Ryan (Melissa) Morse, and Darin Morse (Lisa Olsen); grandchildren Amy, Trevor, Devin & Ryder; great-grandchildren Jerzee, Brylie and Jaxton, and her brother Gary Smith.

Her beloved husband Billy preceded her in death and we know he was waiting for her on the other side with his arms open and a huge smile on his face. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. We love you ‘a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck!’
